Cadwgan ap Bleddyn’s Castle Site

Cadwgan ap Bleddyn’s Castle Site by Philip Nanney Williams

Cadwgan ap Bleddyn is considered as the head of the Nannau family dynasty and today I visited the excavations of the probable site of his castle in Welshpool. Cadwgan was killed in Welshpool while supervising the building of a castle by his nephew Madog ap Rhirid in 1111.

The photographs show the castle mound on the site, the excavation trench and a couple of Medieval enthusiasts that added to the event.
