John Shute Duncan (1769–1844)

John Shute Duncan was born at South Warnborough, Hampshire, on 19th December 1768, the elder son of John Duncan DD, rector of South Warnborough. He was educated at Winchester College.

He was elected a Fellow of New College, Oxford in 1791 where he took a BA in 1791 and became a fellow in the same year. He was Keeper of the Ashmolean Museum between 1823 and 1826.
